The iconic summit of Mount Emei, one of China's Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains. The 48-meter-tall golden Buddha statue overlooks a sea of clouds (weather dependent). The famous "four wonders": sunrise, sea of clouds, holy light, and sunrise glow. Hike the summit loop (1-2 hours). Bring warm layers — it's 5-10°C at the top.
⚠️ Mountain weather: Emei Shan summit can be 5-10°C even when Chengdu is 15°C. Bring a warm jacket, hat, and gloves. Weather can change quickly — fog is common.

The 71-meter-tall Maitreya Buddha carved into the cliff face in the 8th century during the Tang Dynasty. Walk the trail along the cliff to see the full scale. A UNESCO World Heritage site. Allow 1.5-2 hours. Book tickets in advance.
💡 Leshan: The Buddha is even more impressive in person. The cliff trail can be steep — wear sturdy shoes. Nearby town has great local food, especially bobo chicken (cold skewers in spicy broth).

The iconic quartz-sandstone pillars that inspired Avatar's floating mountains. Thousands of pillars rise from the forest floor, shrouded in mist. Take the Bailong Elevator (world's tallest outdoor elevator) up, then explore Yuanjiajie area. Allow 3-4 hours. Book park tickets in advance.
🏔️ Zhangjiajie: The landscape here is surreal. The park is huge, so focus on Yuanjiajie (Avatar area) and Tianzi areas on day 1.

Massive canyon with a glass-bottomed walkway, underground river, and stunning geological formations. Allow 2-3 hours. Combine with the glass bridge for a full day of adrenaline.
💡 Glass Bridge: Book time slots 1-2 weeks in advance. The experience is thrilling but manageable. The canyon itself is worth it even without the glass parts.
